SURGICAL PLANNING

The surgical planner radiance™ improves the targeting performance of intraoperative radiotherapy on the basis of a pre-surgery study. This involves analysis of the various scenarios and assessment of the isodose curve data, enabling the radiotherapy to be targeted on the tumor and minimizing damage to healthy tissue. This analysis allows the clinic to take the best decision for each patient, optimizing their exposure to the therapy.

The surgical planner radiance™ covers the three process phases:

• Pre-operative phase: this involves simulation of the surgical conditions, planning of the applicator position and calculation of the dose.


• Intra-operative phase: this enables the applicator position to be easily checked during surgery. The applicator is adjusted to suit the real surgery conditions and the dose is recalculated accordingly.


• Post-operative phase: the dose actually applied to the patient is recorded in the report.

This planner has proven to be highly useful for surgeons, enhancing the dependability of their intraoperative radiotherapy processes.

GMV has developed this planner in collaboration with the Biomedical Research Foundation (Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica) of the General University Hospital “Gregorio Marañón”.
